6 Makeup and Skincare Discoveries from 2018

Happy New Year! This year has been filled with trying new things, including some products that have quickly become staples in my beauty arsenal. Here are my favorite beauty and skincare discoveries of 2018.

Chanel Les 4 Ombres

$61 USD/$70 CAD

Les 4 Ombres in Clair Obscur is my dream palette. It is the perfect no-fuss, neutral toned quad that works for day or night. All of the shades are so easy to blend and have an amazing color payoff. The shades fall perfectly in the middle of being warm and cool toned, so I feel like is palette would work on everyone. I have stopped using any other eyeshadows this year, because this one checks off all the boxes!

Kosas Weightless Lip Color

$28 USD/$37 CAD

Kosas Cosmetics Lip Colors are my favorite formulation of lipsticks, like ever. They glide on easily, they are super hydrating, the color payoff is amazing and they are non-toxic! There are several universally flattering shades, but Rosewater is hands down my favorite shade of all. It is the perfect cool tone nude that leans more on the pinkier side. It’s a great color for everyday wear and also looks amazing with a subtle smokey eye. This has been with me at all times this year.

Hourglass Vanish Flash Highlighting Stick

$42 USD/$52 CAD

I bought this highlighter in the shade Champagne Flash on a whim, and am so glad I did because I am OBSESSED. Every time I wear it I get tons of compliments. First of all, the triangular shaped applicator is brilliant. It is perfect for getting into the inner corners of the eye, cupids bow and brow bone. The gorgeous champagne shade blends seamlessly into the skin, but gives the most amazing, healthy looking glow. You can wear this subtly, or layer on more for more of an intense look. I think I have used this highlighter every week since I purchased it.

Tata Harper Resurfacing Mask

$62 USD/$78 CAD

I kid you not, I have repurchased this mask about 7 times this year because I love it so much. It uses two natural sources of BHA that gently exfoliate the skin. It does an amazing job of sloughing off dead skin and leaving skin looking and feeling like glass. This has helped with dullness, uneven texture, and the appearance of pores. I am a big fan of anything that helps make me glow, and this mask does not disappoint. I use this twice a week, every week.

Leo Oil

$46 USD

You’ve probably seen Leo Oil in your favorite bloggers #shelfies on Instagram, or you have already tried it for yourself and realized how amazing it is. If you haven't,I highly recommend you stop what you’re doing and go check it out. Leo Oil is created by a badass babe named Dena (@leowithcancer), who literally makes every single batch of Leo Oil by hand. It is an amazing blend of blue tansy, rosehip seed oil and meadowfoam seed oil that helps moisturize and heal irritated skin. I am so obsessed with this, that I repurchase it when I am about halfway done with a bottle so that I’m never without it. I am often that girl who accidentally goes overboard with acids and retinoids, or randomly breaks out in hives on her face. This oil has saved me from all of that. I cannot live without it, period.

Skinceuticals C E Ferulic

$166 USD/$175 CAD

Yes this is pricey, but trust me it is so worth it. I have tried so many Vitamin C Serums, and nothing compares to my beloved C E Ferulic. This product is like a fountain of youth, as it contains potent antioxidants that help prevent sun damage, wrinkles, and fade dark spots. It has truly made such a difference in my fine lines and wrinkles and has worked wonders in brightening my complexion. Some people claim this smells like hotdog water, but in my opinion hot-dog-water-smell is a small price to pay for amazing skin.
