Top 5 Products for Autumn
Autumn is finally upon us, and that means it’s time to switch up your makeup bag and skincare regime. Typically, I start reaching for more moisturizing skincare, as the cold weather can be harsh on dry skin, and my makeup picks all get more and more purple-toned. For a smooth transition into fall, these are five things you should try adding into your routine:
Facial oils are the quickest way to give the skin a glow, as well as deeply nourish and help to balance it. This season I’m using the Jordan Samuel Skin Etoile Facial Oil, a beautiful blend of sweet almond, cranberry seed, argan, marula, evening primrose, rosehip, and sea buckthorn oils. It feels incredibly moisturizing and gives the skin a plump, dewy glow. It helps keep the skin nourished for a long period of time, even in dry conditions. It makes the skin look so healthy and radiant, so it’s going to be an essential once the weather cools down.
Not only do I start using facial oils day and night to prep for cold weather, but I’ll also add in a more nourishing serum step. The Blithe Tundra Chaga Pressed Serum has become the go-to for me. It’s unique because of its pressed formula - usually serums come in dropper bottles, but this comes in a jar, has a flan-like texture, and requires a scoop to get out. You simply warm up a small pea-sized amount, and it melts down into a more typical serum texture. It contains 60% tundra chaga mushroom extract, which not only helps hydrate the skin, but also helps it maintain that hydration. It’s another great product to keep the skin nourished all day or all night long. It also contains fermented argan and olive oils to further feed the skin.
Mauve Eyes & Cheeks
I’m a cool-toned gal at heart - as much as I love looking at the beautiful warm-toned palettes coming out lately, give me some smokey purple shades any day. On my eyes and cheeks I go more mauve than straight-up purple. My eyeshadow pick of this fall is going to be the NARS Duo Eyeshadow in Kalahari - I can already tell I’m going to get so much use out of it. The two shades are beautiful rose/mauve/brown colors that look beautiful and autumnal on the eyes. This is definitely my favorite Duo NARS has to offer.
As for cheeks, I’m going with the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush in Mood Exposure - a classic. Not only does it give the cheeks the perfect mauve flush, but it also adds a subtle sheen that looks perfect with an autumn makeup look. It blends effortlessly over the skin and looks quite natural, rather than powdery. I don’t use powder blush often, but I make an exception for this formula.
A berry lip is one of the biggest cliches of autumn, but it’s a must for me. My go-to right now is the Charlotte Tilbury Matte Revolution Lipstick in Bond Girl. It’s especially perfect for the transition into autumn, because it’s a mix of a brown shade and a berry shade. You get a hint of berry color in an otherwise neutral lip. The formula of these just scream autumn to me, too - it gives the sophisticated matte look, but the formula is comfortable and won’t dry out the lips. It’s a favorite year-round, but especially at this time of year.
