5 Products//10 Minutes
I'll confess - for someone with a considerably large makeup collection, I do have lots of days where I wear the bare minimum on my face. Sleeping in - and a longer breakfast - tend to take precedence over my weekday mornings. I'd rather spend that extra hour cozy in bed rather than at my makeup table. I have thus perfected a quick and effortless look using only 5 products to get me out the door in the morning. With these products, I can pull together a look that makes me feel human and ready to face the work day.
After prepping my skin with serum and moisturizer, I like to start with a base product to even out my skin tone, usually I grab for my Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer ($56 CAD/$44 USD). This product has everything I need from a base product; it provides light to medium coverage, with a slightly dewy, natural finish, lasts all day, and powder products blend effortlessly over it. I also don't feel the need to add concealer with this tinted moisturizer, unless I am sporting a break out that is tougher to cover up (so I guess some days I do a 6 product face).
Next, I go in with a bronzer to warm up and add some dimension back to my face. My most recent favourite, since losing my summer tan, is the Physician's Formula Butter Bronzer ($20 CAD/$14.95 USD). This is a beautiful, buildable bronze that slightly warms up the face without being overwhelming or too orange. It blends seamlessly and also smells amazing. A great affordable option at the drug store! I fluff it around my cheeks, hairline, nose, and jawline to bring some life into my half-awake face.
Then - my favorite part - highlighter! I can't leave the house without a little glow. I personally think this step does the most for making my complexion look fresh and lively. I have been reaching for my Tarte Skin Twinkle Lighting Palette ($32 CAD/ $27 USD) and going hard with the champagne shade. It just melts in to the skin for a sheeny glow, which is awesome for a minimal look. I sweep this over my cheekbones, down the bridge of my nose, even pop it into the inner corners of my eyes and on my brow bone to help me look more alert. It lasts all day with no stray sparkles down my cheeks. I would definitely suggest grabbing it now before Tarte discontinues it forever - and at $32, its definitely a steal.
Last I go in with a brow gel, Anastasia Beverly Hills Clear Brow Gel ($29 CAD/ $22 USD) is my forever work horse. It keeps my brow hairs in place all day and isn't crunchy or crusty looking. And I finish my look off with liberal coats of mascara to open up and lift my eyes. I always have a few in rotation, but the one that I keep going back to is the Tarte Maneater Mascara ($30 CAD/ $23 USD). This mascara gives my lashes so much length and curl without clumping, doesn't flake through the day and (if I'm being honest) I have had for probably too long, but still has yet to dry out. I think its long shelf life makes up for its hefty price tag!
That's all there is to it - a super simple look done right. What are some of your favourite products for a speedy morning routine?
