Things Alice Finished Vol. I

Hey there! I’m Alice, the girl behind @pickychic on Instagram. This is my first time writing for Pur Opulence, or any blog other than my own, so I thought I would introduce myself. I am a 20 years old Australian who is currently completing her third year of a double Bachelor degree of Media and Arts. I started my page back at the beginning of this year after following skincare and beauty blogs for so long as a way to further my photography and writing skills. I can say, without a shadow of a doubt, that it was one of the best decisions I have ever made.  I can’t wait to write more posts for you all, and I really hope you enjoy the content I create. For reference, I have combination skin, which is dry and dehydrated, and also suffer from hormonal breakouts.

Elemis Pro Collagen Cleansing Balm

$64 USD

As this is my first ever article on Pur Opulence, it is only fitting that my first empty is of my favorite cleanser of all time. What a perfect way for you to get to know me! This gem from Elemis can be used both as a first cleanse and a second cleanse, though I prefer it as a first as it is superb at removing makeup. Even the most stubborn mascara and waterproof eyeliner have nothing on this bad boy. The lavender scent is both addicting and invigorating, though not strong enough to cause any irritation. Yes, it is an expensive method of makeup removal, but once you have found the one, there is no turning back. I have since repurchased this in the limited edition rose scent which comes in a gigantic 200g tub.

COSRX Low-pH Good Morning Gel Cleanser

$11 USD

COSRX was my entryway to K-beauty, with this being the first product I have ever tried from the brand. I’m going to be honest, I was immediately drawn to it by the super Instagramable packaging, but I stayed for the amazing formulas inside. This cleanser is perfectly pH balance, which means that it doesn’t disrupt your skin’s acid mantle. I found this cleanser was perfect for my combination skin, as it gave me a proper cleanse while not stripping my skin. I can imagine this product working for so many different skin types. I will totally repurchase this one, as it is effective, long lasting, and affordable.

Glossier Solution

$24 USD

When I heard that Glossier was coming out with an acid toner, I was literally jumping up and down. Before this, I had only ever used acid toners from the brand Paula’s Choice, and I was looking to branch out. This toner gave me instant gratification; I saw my pimples diminish overnight. Needless to say, I was hooked. Overtime, I came to realise that it was a tad too stripping for me, so I only reserved it for times when my hormonal acne was really playing up. I would recommend this for the severely acne prone, and only if you have a strong tolerance for acids.

Sunday Riley U.F.O. Ultra-Clarifying Face Oil

$40 USD

Before this product came into my life, I was forever on the hunt to find the perfect acne fighting elixir. I’m glad to report that I have found it. Which consistent use, I have found that my skin has stayed clear and clarified, but still retains the hydration and glow that my skin needs. This 15mL version lasted me over 6 months (a little goes a long way), but when I repurchase it, I will definitely go for the full size.

Lanolips 101 Ointment Multi-Balm ‘Coconutter’

$13.50 USD

I always get to happy when I finish a lip product, not only because they take so long so empty, but also because I always end up loosing them before I can even hit the half way mark. The Lanolips 101 ointment is my go-to lip balm. I always have one near me. This stuff can’t be beat.

Dior Lip Glow ‘001 Pink Glow’

$34 USD

The Dior Lip Glow is a cult classic at this point. This is the lip product I reach for when I don’t know what to use. It imparts a beautiful rosy hue to the lips, while providing a natural glow and the moisture of a balm. Even though it is the most expensive lip product I own, and it is essentially a glorified tinted lip balm, I will repurchase it time and time again.
