5 Skincare Essentials for Dry Skin
Now that colder weather has come around, my skin is so dry it feels like sandpaper. I do the obvious things like drink tons of water and avoid overly hot showers and baths, but that isn't enough. Luckily there are some great products on the market that help combat dry and dull skin. These are my Holy Grails come winter time.

In the colder months I need a simple, no fuss cleanser that doesn’t leave my skin feeling stripped and tight. I am someone who has to wash their face morning and night, so using a gentle cleanser that doesn’t dry out my skin is essential. I love Glossier’s Milky Jelly Cleanser because it’s super gentle, but gets all my makeup off at night and feels nourishing. It has rosewater and other skin conditioning ingredients to prevent skin dehydration.

Exfoliation is really important for me when my skin becomes dry because I get those super cute patches of flaky dead skin on random parts of my face. It not only looks terrible, but if I ignore it my makeup doesn’t go on as smooth and my other products do not sink into my skin as well. These peel pads are amazing because they are gentle, but really slough off all the dead skin. They leave my skin glowy and smooth without feeling overly dry. Although these are gentle enough to use every day, I usually do every second or third night on my face, neck, chest and the backs of my hands. Don’t forget about your hands y'all!!

For serum I use Hydrating B5 Gel by SkinCeuticals. This serum has hyaluronic acid and vitamin B5 which lock in moisture and replenish the nutrients that are lost in dry skin. I use about four drops and focus on my most dry areas such as my forehead and cheeks. My skin loves this product and literally soaks it right up. This also helps keep those dry flakey patches at bay and plumps up your skin.
For moisturizer I love using Weleda Skin Food. It is a thick and hydrating moisturizer that has a cult following for a reason. It leaves your skin so hydrated and dewy. It’s a bit too thick for me during daytime [although people say it works great as a highlight under makeup], so I use this as a moisture mask while I sleep. It has ingredients like calendula and chamomile that help soothe the skin.

This product is my holy grail year round. It is the only lip product that really helps my incredibly dry lips. This is a thick mask with agave nectar and jojoba oil with a honey-like consistency. Because it’s so thick, it stays on my lips all night and when I wake up my lips feel smooth and hydrated.
