The Eye Cream Edit: Alyssa’s Top Picks

Within the past year, I’ve really delved into the realm of eye creams as I realized concealer wasn’t doing my dark circles enough favors. From hydrating to smoothing, to brightening and color correcting, I’ve narrowed down my current top picks on the market for eye creams.

The Belif Moisturizing Eye Bomb was my first eye cream and love at first application. The cooling gel texture instantly melts into the undereye area, providing a lasting burst of hydration and smooth canvas for concealer. The tiger grass and comfrey leaf boosts elasticity and lends intensive moisture that still feels lightweight. Although this isn’t brightening like the rest of the bunch, it’s a reliable moisturizing eye cream formula for both day and night use.

The Olehenriksen Banana Bright Eye Crème has been quite the target of hype since it released, and I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t about to hype this up even more than I already have. The vitamin C-rich eye cream was inspired by banana powder, a makeup artist tool of trade for brightening. The cream truly does brighten dark circles instantly to make it look like you got more sleep than you probably did (let’s be real). The formula also supports natural collagen production to target fine lines and wrinkles and promote a more youthful look over time.

The First Aid Beauty Eye Duty Triple Remedy: Brighten, Depuff and Smooth is just that. The three-in-one treatment is a newer addition to my collection but has quickly made its way into my everyday routine. The salmon-toned gel contains sheer, light-reflecting pigments, retinylpalmitate (Vitamin A derivative), caffeine and licorice root that multitask to illuminate the undereye area, reduce puffiness, and color correct to combat the appearance of dark circles. Additionally, it comes with a stainless steel tip that fits perfectly into the contours around the eye and delivers an insanely cooling application. Overall, this stand-out product lives up to (and beyond) its hefty claims and has proven itself effective both with and without makeup.

The new Drunk Elephant C-Tango Multivitamin Eye Cream is probably the eye cream I’m most excited about. This formula features a combination of eight peptides and five forms of vitamin C, along with cucumber extract, to even and firm the under-eye area. The lightweight gel texture is gentle for both day and night use and lays perfectly under makeup. This “powerhouse,” as I like to call it, brightens and smooths my under-eyes like no other. I can feel it firming within minutes of application, but not to the point where my skin feels tight or dry. When I use this, my under-eyes look like I reversed 10 years of bad sleeping patterns—no exaggeration.
