Nothing gets me as excited as a new foundation or repurchasing an old favorite. I’m the type of person that rarely steers away from her usual foundation to dip my toes into something new, but this usually only applies to different formulas. I tend to lean toward glowy foundations that could be sheered out but on occasion I like a heavier coverage foundation. Here are some of my foundation picks!
I’ve yet to find a tinted moisturizer or CC/BB cream that has the coverage that the It Cosmetics CC Cream provides. I’m telling you, you won’t find it. Retailing for $38/32mL, a little goes a long way. It feels light on the skin and provides decent coverage without ever looking caked on. With an SPF of 50, this is perfect for day-to-day and it’s my go-to during business hours. Although I’m not impressed with the shade range, it’s a good CC cream to check out if you’re able to snag your color.
I had to include a drugstore option in the foundation lineup and if you guessed L’Oreal Pro-Glow, you were right. Retailing for $12.99/30mL it’s a steal. You may pay for a drug store foundation, but it performs like most of my high end foundations. This blends like a dream. The radiant finish foundation comes in 12 shades and is long wearing compared to others with the same finish. This isn’t something I’d recommend for oily skin types, but it’s amazing for us with drier skin types.
When I first saw Katie Jane Hughes using the Surrat Beauty Surreal Skin Foundation Wand, I knew I had to have it and I’ve been in love ever since it hit my door step. It’s pricy at $65/0.5oz, I was hesitant to try it myself but once I ripped of the band aid and tried it, I wasn’t sorry. This medium-full coverage foundation comes in 13 shades. It foundation is dispensed out of a clicker and has a foundation brush attached which I actually enjoy. This foundation provides everything I need. This is my “special occasion” foundation and the one I reach for when I need my skin to look at its best.
I’ve gone through bottles of the Nars Sheer Glow and it’s one I always keep on hand. Retailing for $47/30mL and 20 different shade ranges, this is a sheer but buildable coverage of my dreams. As I noted above, I like my skin showing through my foundation and this is perfect for that. It evens out my completion without clinging to dry spots or emphasizing any pores. Don’t let the name fool you since I don’t really consider this a “glowy” foundation by any means. This is more of a satin finish that glides on the skin.
There’s a reason why the Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation has such a following and is a cult classic. Because it’s beautiful on the skin! Retailing for $64/30mL it’s pricy, but worth is. With 24 shades, you’re bound to fall in love at first wear. Like the Nars Sheer Glow, this is a satin formula with buildable coverage. My favorite part about this foundation? The way it photographs. Can we talk about beautiful natural looking skin? This foundation provides just that.
This has been the year of foundation sticks. I’ve gone through countless trying to find my perfect match. The convenience of a stick really appealed to me and the Hourglass Vanish Seamless Finish Foundation Stick checked off every bullet. It’s pricy at $46/.25oz, but let me tell you, A LITTLE GOES A LONG WAY! This universal foundation provides medium-full coverage and is great for all skin types in my opinion. I was a little hesitant while trying this foundation. I was worried it was going to cling on to dry patched and emphasize my pores but to my surprise, it did the complete opposite. The 26-shade range foundation stays put all day and didn’t break up throughout the day. It melts into the skin that doesn’t accentuate or settle into fine lines. A great pick for night you know your makeup needs to last.
These are only some of my favorite foundations and narrowing this list down was brutal. I’m on a quest to find my perfect foundation but until then, I’ll just keep looking. What are some of your favorite foundations?
