I haven't wore foundation in over 5 months and I couldn’t feel more confident in my own skin. Going foundation-free has many benefits such as: 1. Saves time in the morning and 2. Helps me feel confident in my own skin. Moving away from foundation starts with a good skincare routine, here are my tips to go foundation-free:
Exfoliating is a crucial part of smooth and bright skin. I choose to use chemical exfoliators instead of physical exfoliators. They give better results without the feeling of scratching at your skin. When I use Glossier’s Solution my skin instantly looks brighter in the morning. It also works wonders for acne.
This oil is an absolute game changer. Made by an Instagram queen, Dena (@leowithcancer), Leo Oil is amazing for every skin type. I use it day and night and my skin glows because of it. Leo Oil also keeps acne and inflammation at bay.
Keeping your skin hydrated will allow it to look plump and healthy. Eunoia has squalane, hyaluronic acid and more that will help you skin to maintain hydration in any condition. Just like you keep your body hydrated by drinking water, keep your skin hydrated by allowing it to *drink* this serum.
A good cleanser should leave your skin feeling hydrated and take all your makeup off (*including waterproof). Milky Jelly checks off both of the requirements for a cleanser that is perfect for every skin type.
If there’s one thing I learned from my mom it’s that you should never leave the house without SPF. Although you may not see immediate results, your future self will thank you. Glossier Invisible Shield is my all time favorite SPF that can be worn with or without makeup.
Hydrate, Hydrate, Hydrate. Add fruit to your water if it helps.
Stop touching/picking at your face. Especially with dirty hands.
Never go to bed with makeup on. Keep makeup wipes on your nightstand as a last resort.
Don’t neglect your chest and neck. The skin there is just as thin as on your face and it needs the same TLC.
Get your beauty sleep, if your skin is tired it shows.
Along with skincare I have my ride or die makeup products that help me achieve glowy skin without foundation.
Nars Soft Matte Complete Concealer ($30)+ Glossier Stretch Concealer ($18) + Milk Luminous Blur Stick ($36)
I know, it seems like a lot but it makes your skin so luminous. I apply a small amount of each concealer with my ring finger (no sponges here). I then set my under eyes with light powder and add some of the Luminous Blur Stick with my ring finger to blur pores and highlight the under eyes and cheekbones in the most beautiful way.
If I could only have one Glossier product for the rest of my life it would be Cloud Paint hands down. “Storm”, one of their new shades, has been my recent favorite. Cloud paint gives a natural flush to the cheeks that is easy to apply and has staying power. No foundation needed here, just some cloud paint.
