Products You Will Finish

What do you look for when making a skincare purchase?  I look for a product that suits my skins needs, has good reviews and buzz, will provide a nice experience, and that I will actually finish (and possibly repurchase).  There are products collecting dust on the shelves as I’m typing this, and that is a huge bummer.  The following are some of the products that I think are honestly effective, exciting, versatile, and will absolutely be finished to the last drop.  No wasting hard-earned money here.

Biologique Recherche Lotion P50 PIGM 400

A great product is one that you want to use both sparingly, to savor it, and all the time, because you can’t get enough.  That was the case for me with Biologique Recherche’s Lotion P50 PIGM 400.  It’s just so good, don’t mind the spoiled vinegar scent.  This acid toner/pH balancing liquidrenewsthe skins’ moisture barrier after cleansing, brightens and evens the skin tone, balances, begins to lighten dark spots, and protects and prevents the skin from enlarging pigmentation or developing new spots.  With all of that said, I was using this product 3-4 mornings per week (sometimes in the evening), because it was so effective.  I would put 6-7 drops on a cotton pad and press into the skin gently from decollate to forehead.  Every last drop was squeezed out of here.  It’s quite addictive to have a toner that does so many thing for the skin, all of which can be visibly noticed. My skin always felt plumper, hydrated, glowy (that’snot a word), dry lines were diminished, and overall, more even-toned. I think after I’m finished with my current P50 1970 (original version) I will be going for the larger size PIGM 400(5.1oz/$68.00 @ I really want to see if with prolonged use, my pigmentation will begin to disappear. It’s notable to add that I had no new spots while using this, and my skin would glow to the high heavens all day long.

Glossier Milky Jelly Cleanser

Milky Jelly is one of those products where after a few uses, you realize you love it, and probably won’t ever be without it. The simplicity of it makes it so appealing to me. It is a conditioning, cooling, jelly cleanser, with no foam or soapy feeling whatsoever, and it has a lovely, but light rosewater scent.  Although, it is super gentle (and absolutely gentle enough around the eyes) and will never compromise your skin’s moisture barrier, it is going to completely cleanse the skin with super soothing conditioning agents, and will never leave it feeling tight or stripped.  Not only will you finish this 6oz cleanser, you will probably order a backup at the first sight of transparency through the bottle.

La Roche-Posay Thermal Spring Water

I’ve gone through 3 of these in a few months, you’ll finish it because it’s versatile, refreshing, and works as a super quick boost of antioxidant protection if you have absolutely no time for much else.  I’m a huge fan of a cold cleanse.  Basically you apply a milky, jelly, or any non-foaming cleanser to dry skin, massage, then spray with this spring water, massage some more for good measure, then sprayagain onto the skin and onto esthetic wipes (my fav of all time;Intrinsics Naturally 4x4 Silken Wipes $15.99 on  For this purpose alone, you’ll use and savor this product until there is just no more to spray.  Another great thing about LRP’s Thermal Spring Water is that is contains selenium, a natural antioxidant.  So let’s say you’re running late, or are just not up for 10 steps in your routine, just cleanse, spray, protect (spf), and go!  Oh, and it’s definitely worth mentioning that it has the most amazing sprayer, comes out like a cool gentle mist, which makes it perfect to freshen up your bare skin or makeup in the hot, humid summer months.  The possibilities are endless, but not the can.  You’ll finish it, and want to stock up.

Paula’s Choice Resist Youth-Extending Daily Hydrating Fluid SPF 50

It’s so easy not to finish an SPF.  You either hate this step in your routine, i.e. fear of white-caste, clogging pores, or just the added layer after moisturizer, and under makeup, or, you don’t take this step at all (Bad!  But let’s face it, we’ve all skipped it at some point and felt guilty).  However, this super thin, milky/watery-textured, hydrating liquid doesn’t feel like a chore in your a.m. skincare routine whatsoever.  It is soothing to the skin, and delivers a nice blast of hydration that you can feel immediately.  The skin begins to plump up after applying, and softens any dry lines you may have.  But, the key to this product being one that you’ll reach for everyday and finish, is that it is spf 50 (UVA/UVB protection) that never clogs the pores, or feels thick or sticky on the skin.  That combined with antioxidants that will protect the skin from free radicals and begin to firm the skin and improve tone and texture over time, make it a squeeze it until its empty, cut it open and scoop it out, type of product.

Jordan Samuel Skin Hydrate Facial Serum

I love hydrate.  It is my 100% go-to serum for hydrating (duh), brightening, and plumping.  It’s great for day or night because it works so well with other products.  It’s truly a drink of water for the skin, and who wouldn’t want that every day?  I tend to have a little collection of serums that take forever to finish, either because I’m not loving the texture, or it doesn’t make my skin feel drenched enough (which is how I like it), but this one is always disappearing because of how effective it is at moisturizing, and holding onto moisture for hours and hours.  I always over apply because of how pleasant it feels and smells (light botanical cucumber), and because frankly, I don’t think you can over apply hydrate.  This is a re-stock before it’s even close to gone bottle.  (and pssst, now available in a jumbo 4 oz size/$72.00)

NIOD Superoxide Dismutase Saccharide Mist (SDSM2)

NIOD is a brand that is truly for those who are looking for innovation in skincare, and have a love for the science of it all.  I am intrigued by all of that, but one of the things I look for when trying a new product, is the experience, the results I’m seeing, and whether or not I’m actually getting my money’s worth and finishing it!  This is the best skin treatment mist that I’ve used/ come across/ tried, ever.  It prevents water loss, calms irritation or inflamed skin, provides key antioxidant protection, and keeps the skin feeling moisturized and balanced all day (or night) long.  The sprayer is heavenly, and who wouldn’t fall in love with that gorgeous aqua marine color.  You are getting a ton of product (although it is pricey).  I think this is a nice splurge product, and great for treating yourself.  I apply it pretty much anywhere I feel the effects of dehydration, or irritation i.e. face, neck, decollete, stomach, arms, and legs.  For its’uses all over the body, it goes fast, and when you’re not using it, you can really tell; my skin will begin to feel parched by the afternoon hours, not good.  It is also a product that I cannot really compare with anything else.  SDSM2 is a one of a kind mist that will be finished and repurchased.

Until next time, Spray away!
