Kelsey's Blush Picks

Summer is finally here, and once those longer and warmer days roll around, I start itching to switch up my makeup look. My favorite kind of Summer look is super flushed and glowy. To get a dewy finish on the cheeks, I normally reach for cream products, but there are a couple great powder products that will still give a glow.

$22 CAD//$18 USD

The Glossier Cloud Paint in Puff is forever my most-reached-for blush. It has a foolproof formula that’s really easy to apply and blend out. It becomes one with the skin right away and looks so natural - it really just looks like you’re blushing and creates a natural stain that lasts all day. There are four shades ranging from a peachy orange to a deep berry, so there’s something for everyone. My favorite is Puff, the cool pink shade, because it looks a lot like the color my cheeks naturally turn when I blush. If you’ve been wanting to add a liquid blush to your collection, look here first.

Lilah b. Divine Duo Lip & Cheek in b. True.png

$56 CAD//$46 USD

A more recent but well-loved addition has been the Lilah b. Divine Duo Lip & Cheek in b. True. I love a good multi-use product, and the weighty, pebble-like packaging is to die for. It not only feels really nice to just hold, but it’s a dream to apply. It’s a creamy formula with good pigmentation that sets down on the skin once blended, so despite being a cream, it’s quite long lasting. These work equally well on the lips and the cheeks, so you can get a really nice monochrome look out of them, too. The shade b. True is my favorite because it’s a neutral pink that goes with anything, but it still creates a lovely flush on the skin. There’s also a red shade that I’m dying to try!

$33 CAD//$28 USD

Speaking of multi-use products, another one I’m going to be reaching for a lot this spring is the Nudestix Nudies All Over Face Color in Naughty n’ Spice. These have a thin, weightless formula that leaves a dewy finish on the skin but sticks around for awhile. They work well on the eyes, lips, and cheeks. Naughty n’ Spice is a perfect spiced rose shade that will add a flush of color to the cheeks, but it still looks neutral enough to go with any look.

Marc Jacobs Air Blush Soft Glow Duo in Kink & Kisses.png

$57 CAD//$42 usd

When I want to use a powder blush though, I often reach for the Marc Jacobs Air Blush Soft Glow Duo in Kink & Kisses. This has a beautiful smooth formula that looks like a cream on the skin. There are no discernible glitter or shimmer particles in it, but it still gives the cheeks a really subtle sheen. The Kink & Kisses shade is pretty much the most “spring-y” shade in my collection - it’s equal parts pink and peach and totally reminds me of spring flowers.

Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush in Ethereal Glow.png

$45 CAD//$35 USD

Another glowy powder pick is the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush in Ethereal Glow. These have the Ambient Lighting Powder swirled into the blush, so when mixed together, you get a soft flush of color with a lot of sheen. They have so many beautiful shades, but the one I’m reaching for this spring is Ethereal Glow - it’s a close match to Glossier Puff, so I like to layer Ethereal Glow on top for a real pop of color. These blushes are perfect if you’re in a rush too, as they’re so glowy that you can skip your highlighting step if you want. Dewy spring skin? Check.
