Lazy Girl Favorites

A realization I came to recently was that I have been spending a lot of time on lengthy skincare and makeup routines. In the spirit of that realization, I wanted to share with you a few of my lazy girl favorites that simplify my morning routine. Each of my recommendations are incredibly easy to use and time savers. The products I swear by on mornings when time is scarce or when one is feeling a bit lazy, will take a grand total of about fifteen minutes to use.

For me spending more than 10 minutes on my hair in particular is just not going to happen. I’ve found that when I have a good haircut I actually need very few hair products to make myself look presentable. The most important of those products being sea salt spray. Personally, I have wavy hair so sea salt sprays feel like they were made for me. They provide a gorgeous texture and truly give life to your hair. Lately I have been using the Not Your Mother’s Beach Sea Salt Texturizing Spray ($4.69), but really any will work. To cut out time getting my hair ready in the morning I instead wash my hair at night. After washing my hair I pat it dry with a towel, comb out any tangles, and use the spray to evenly coat my hair. Then I will use my hand to scrunch the product in everywhere but the scalp to give more definition to my waves. All in all, it takes about five minutes and the next morning I wake up with beautiful, softly defined waves. While this works the best on curly or wavy hair, don’t worry if yours isn’t. The sea salt spray will still give your hair more interest by adding a beautiful texture and making your hair more piecey looking. On days when I want even more texture, I will get the bottom 1/3 of my hair slightly wet in the morning and then add extra sea salt spray. Since you already have some in your hair from the night before this gives gorgeous volume and texture and only takes a minute.

My second most used hair product is dry shampoo. As someone who gets an oily scalp very quickly this is an absolute must for me. I use it when I don’t want to wash my hair or simply don’t have time. Use a few sprays around your crown and work in with fingers to evenly distribute the product. It will easily soak up oil while adding a bit of volume and lift, making it look like you spent more time getting ready. While I have used many in the past, a friend recommended the Dove Refresh + Care Volume and Fullness Dry Shampoo ($4.99).  I find it to be super effective and very affordable.

When it comes to makeup, there are so many different products that you could spend an hour applying them all. With my favorites, you can cut that time down to just five minutes using these three simple products.  My absolute favorite of which has become the convenient muti-use stick or pencil. Currently the Lip + Cheek Pencils by Nudestix ($24)have been my go to though. They come in a variety of colors, have high pigmentation, and are made with an ultra creamy formula that blends really beautifully onto the skin. You apply them directly to your lips and cheeks and then use your fingers to work the product. While they are specifically designed for cheeks and lips I have used them on my lids as well for a more monotone look. Another favorite lazy girl makeup product is Glossier’s Haloscope in Quartz ($22), which works wonderfully as a hydrating highlighter. You simply apply to your cheekbones, cupids bow, brow bone, and down the center of your nose for light in all of the right places. While it is a lovely highlighter, I also like to use it to add a bit of shine to eyelids for a more natural and dewy skinned look.

The last two items are among the most effective at changing your overall look very quickly. One of them being mascara, which is in the company of the most universally flattering products. A great makeup hack that I’ve learned along the way is to apply dark mascara to your lashes, then before it dries down use a small eyeliner brush to smudge the excess into your lashline. It’s quick and easy to do, plus it mimics the look of tightlining without all of the effort. You’ll instantly look more awake and bright eyed. One of my top mascaras to do this with is Charlotte Tilbury’s Legendary Lashes Mascara ($32). It’s incredibly pigmented and applies a bit wet so it’s easy to play with. Finally, the last lazy girl favorites product is tinted brow gel. Currently my go to brow gel is the cult Boy Brow by Glossier ($16). Not only does it add a touch of color and keep your brows in place, but it instantly makes you look more put together. So days when you’re lazy or in a hurry it’s incredibly easy to brush it on, tame your brows, and head out the door.

While I love a long self-care ritual as much as the next beauty obsessed girl, I don’t want to be spending so much time applying products. Instead I’d rather purchase items that work harder so I don’t have to!  On days when time is not on my side, I count on this short and sweet routine.  It lets me walk out the door feeling polished, confident, and looking anything but lazy.
