Favorite Luxury Foundations
I’ve always been a big fan of drugstore cosmetics and a firm believer in the idea that you don’t have to spend hundreds of dollars for beautiful makeup, but when it comes to foundation I’m willing to splurge. If I’m going to be wearing my foundation for hours without touch-ups between classes, I want something good quality that won’t settle into fine lines, break down in my t-zone, or irritate my sensitive skin. Foundation is one of my favorite steps of my makeup routine, and I’ve become addicted to testing out new bases and seeing how they wear, so I’ve tried an alarming number of luxury foundations. Here are my favorites!
One of my friends recommended Estee Lauder Double Wear to me when I was complaining about my foundation breaking down in my t-zone, and I’m so grateful because this foundation is incredible for oily skin. This relatively lightweight yet full-coverage foundation makes your skin look literally flawless and covers imperfections in a way that doesn’t look cakey at all. I love how smooth and uniform my skin looks after using Double Wear, and the fact that it stays intact for hours on end is amazing. Unfortunately there is a lot of flashback with this product, so I don’t use it for nighttime events where there will be flash photography, but for everyday makeup looks this is one of my go-to bases.

Jaclyn Hill got everyone addicted to this gorgeous foundation from Dior and now I’m upset because rumour has it it’s being discontinued. The Diorskin Forever Perfect Foundation Broad Spectrum SPF 35 is a stunning satin foundation that looks so natural yet hides imperfections so effectively. Whenever I use this foundation I get so many compliments on how healthy my complexion looks. The formula is very lightweight and is a good medium between matte and dewy, plus the added bonus of SPF makes this base a winner in my books.

If you’re looking for a base that packs a punch when it comes to coverage without looking cakey this foundation from Laura Mercier is for you. The first time I used this product I was astonished by how full-coverage it was considering its thinner consistency. The Flawless Fusion Ultra Longwear Foundation from Laura Mercier blends effortlessly into the skin and gives you an insane amount of coverage without emphasizing texture or looking dry. Another added bonus is the fact that this foundation is incredibly long-wearing. Once you apply the foundation, the base sets down and doesn’t budge at all. I find that whenever I use this as my base and then go to the gym after lectures my foundation will stay completely intact regardless of the fact that I was sweating buckets on the elliptical. It’s astonishing.

If you’ve been thinking about buying this foundation and are waiting for a sign from the universe to tell you to pull the trigger, let this be it. You need this exquisite, stunning, insanely gorgeous foundation. Not to be dramatic but it will change your life. I’m not sure what magical ingredient is in this aerosol spray can but it makes your skin look perfect. The formula is so lightweight, with a satin finish that looks natural yet gives you the perfect amount of coverage. This foundation doesn’t cling to any dry patches and doesn’t break down in oily spots. This product can be pretty intimidating considering its aerosol dispenser is pretty unique, but I never spray it directly on my face. I prefer to spray it onto my beauty blender that way I have more control of the product. Since this foundation is particularly pricey I like to save it for special occasions where I need my foundation to last and look flawless. Just go get it, trust me.
