Pur Opulence Approved Primers

Michelle’s Favorite Primers

I’m so ashamed that there once was a time when I used foundation without primer. One of my biggest makeup concerns is my large pores, and for the longest time I used to blame my foundation for turning into an oily porous mess after a few hours. Primer has completely changed the quality and longevity of my foundation, and my addiction to a smooth, even base makes primers an easy sell for me. I usually gravitate towards mattifying and pore filling primers. With my combination skin,in the summertime I have a t-zone that produces more oil than Saudi Arabia so I need a primer to help keep things at bay. In the wintertime, I prefer more hydrating primers to combat dryness.

Here are my all-time favorite makeup primers for a smooth, flawless base all year along!

Deciem Hylamide HA Blur

I don’t know what I’d do without Hylamide HA Blur from Deciem. I was surfing the “Just Arrived” page on Sephora and noticed how affordable this primer was. Never having tried anything from the brand, I decided to test it out and see if it was any good since the reviews looked promising. Fast forward two weeks later, I’m shouting from the roof tops that this primer is everything my skin has ever wanted and more. My foundation always lasts on my nose whenever I use this primer which is unheard of. A little goes a long way, and I love how hydrated and smooth my skin feels whenever I use it. Hylamide HA Blur leaves a smooth and slippery feeling on my skin, and in the past other primers that had that silicone feeling didn’t grip onto my foundation and improve longevity, but this primer helped keep my makeup on all day without breaking apart. This is an amazing option for all year long because it’s both hydrating and long-wearing so you get the best of both worlds.

Touch in Sol No Poreblem Primer

I was really intrigued by this primer when I saw Kathleen Lights gush about it on her channel, but for the longest time it wasn’t available on Sephora Canada. When I finally got that stock notification email, I ordered it and couldn’t wait to try it for myself. There are so many things I love about this primer. The pretty pink packaging speaks to my millennial soul, and I love how luxurious the glass bottle is considering the primer is pretty affordable. I find that whenever I apply this primer, it makes my skin look really blurred and even. I love using this primer even on no makeup days since it makes such a difference to my skin. This is more of a tacky primer which is great for helping makeup adhere and last longer. Ever since I got my hands on this primer I haven’t been using anything else and I’m so happy with how it makes my makeup look!

M.a.c Pro Longwear Paint Pot in “Painterly”

Usually I’m too lazy to use a separate primer for my eyelids and opt for a concealer, but for an event where I need my shadow to stay vibrant and in place all day, I like to use the Pro Longwear Paint Pot in the shade “Painterly” from Mac. This nude beige cream shadow cancels out any discoloration or veins on my eyelids and creates a smooth base for my eyeshadow. I find that whenever I use this as my base my shadow stays perfect all day and doesn’t crease on me. A little goes a long way with this primer so it’s a great option for anyone looking to save money!

Belif The True Cream Aqua Bomb

I know that this technically isn’t a primer per se but it’s such an amazing primer option in the wintertime to combat dryness. I hate thick moisturizers under my makeup because I feel like they sit on top of my skin and don’t let my foundation set properly. This gel moisturizer from Belif is a great option for anyone looking for an extremely moisturizing primer that leaves little residue and sinks into the skin effortlessly. I love how radiant and healthy my skin looks when I apply this moisturizer, and I find that it helps my foundation look less cakey. Since it’s light and doesn’t leave any film behind, it’s perfect for oily skin.
