Five Face Masks to Hit the Reset Button

Changes in the weather always seem to wreak havoc on my skin, so while I’m happy to finally get some spring/summer weather, my skin is having a bit of a rough time. There are a few masks that are perfect for revitalizing and refreshing the skin, like your own special “reset” button for when things are getting rough.

ORIGINS MEGA-MUSHROOM SOOTHING MASK.png

$39 USD // $50 CAD

This is everything I wanted their famous Drink-Up mask to be (which I still love, by the way). You can instantly feeling it calming down irritated skin the moment you apply it. It feels so nice that I often leave it on for much longer than the recommended 10 minutes. Formulated with three types of mushroom (reishi, chaga, and coprinus) as well as probiotic ferment, this will work to not only instantly reduce redness and irritation, but also strengthen the skin’s resilience over time. This is a must-have for summer for sure.

$48 USD // $59 CAD

The mask that’s all over social media right now, and it’s certainly worth the hype. This is kind of a do-it-all mask, providing deep hydration as well as gentle exfoliation to reveal radiant, smooth skin right away. Like the Origins mask, this instantly gets to work at soothing the skin. It can be used in a variety of ways, but the way that works best for me is to let it sink into my skin for a good 30 minutes or so and then rinse off the residue. This is a great one for using before makeup, as it leaves the skin so incredibly smooth afterward.

Fresh Lotus Youth Preserve Rescue Mask.png

$62 USD // $75 CAD

Another mask that’s great for using in the mornings - this latest addition from Fresh touts itself as a “facial in a jar,” which feels pretty accurate. It uses Fresh’s Super 7 Complex as well as seaweed flakes, lotus seeds, and sea fennel extract to hydrate, boost radiance, and smooth the skin. The lotus seeds and algae particles provide a very gentle manual exfoliation as you remove the mask, which really makes everything feel perfectly smooth and prepped for makeup. This has quite a cooling effect on the skin, so I find it helps to reduce redness as well.

BLISS IN THE HONEY MASK.png

$16 USD

Did anyone else raid the Bliss section when it appeared in Target? One of my favorite products I picked up was this Lavender Honey Mask. It’s a thick cream-gel hybrid that instantly soothes the skin. Do be careful if you’re sensitive to lavender, but for me it just adds to its great soothing effects. The honey provides such a nice hit of hydration that leaves my skin glowing no matter how tired it was feeling beforehand.

Renee Rouleau Rapid Response Detox Mask.png

$60 USD

This is a true do-it-all. Do you ever have days where your skin is not only feeling dried out and irritated, but also quite spotty? Then this is the mask for you - it’s the only one I’ve tried that treats breakouts while still hydrating the skin. It uses tea tree oil and a 2% salicylic acid complex to rid the pores of acne-causing bacteria, while also employing Chinese licorice, allatoin, and sodium hyaluronate to hydrate and soothe redness. This is especially effective on the hormonal/dietary breakouts, which go hand in hand with stressed-out skin. This is my go-to for post-workout skin as well!

What are your favorite masks to soothe and “reset” your skin?
