Voluminous Curls for Spring
It may not feel like Spring yet for most of us, but there’s nothing wrong with getting a head start in your beauty routines, specifically hair, for the warmer weather coming. Having dry, curly, and wavy hair can have its perks…but having dry, curly, wavy, and frizzy hair during the spring and summer months, not so much. I have a few tips and tricks for my curly-haired girls out there that need some help upping their locks-game for spring.
I’ve loved Ouai Shampoo and Conditioners starting from the end of last season until now. To enhance the life of your curls, Ouai’s Curl Shampoo and Conditioner do just that. If you want volume with that, use the Volume Shampoo and Curl Conditioner together to get big, soft, bouncy curls and hair. If you’re a frizz suffer in the hotter months, opt for one of the Smoothing products from the range within your hair-cleansing routine.
Hair masks are best used at least once a week as a treatment, and if you have color-treated hair, make sure to get a hair mask that protects the color, not strips it. To enhance my dark color-treated locks, brining nourishment, shine, and brightness to the color is key, so I reach for Oribe’s Masque for Beautiful Color. If your hair isn’t color-treated but is still dry, thick, and frizzy, Leonor Greyl’s Masque Orchidee is my go-to.
Before using hot tools and styling products, I gently pat my hair with an Aquis Hair Towel, not completely dry though because my next step is blow-drying with a diffuser attachment. Use a little MoroccanOil Treatment Hair Oil through my damp hair to help tame the frizz and protect it from the hot tool. The trick to get more volume when blow-drying with a diffuser attachment is to flip your head down and blow-dry in the assumed-position, then flip it back over when you’re done. I like to pretend I’m Rita Hayworth in Gilda when I flip the hair back around; known for probably the most iconic hair-flips in cinema. Also, your hair will be just as voluminous so, make that hair flip count!
Once the hair is all dried, you can go one or 2 ways: if you want to add texture to spritz some Oribe’s Dry Texturizing Spray or Après Beach Wave and Shine Spray to add extra bombshell UMPH. Set it all with your favorite hair spray, mine currently at the moment is Alterna’s Extra Hold Hair Spray. It doesn’t make the hair crunchy or sticky, and it provides your style with maximum hold all spring-day long.
