Winter Body Care Essentials

The dry, cold winter air does a number on my skin. Most of my skincare efforts go toward ensuring my face is properly hydrated; I used to be way too lazy about the rest of my body. I've changed that with a number of body care products that keep all of my skin happy all year, especially when temperatures drop.

In the shower, I reach for soaps that don't strip my skin. I love the L'Occitane Shower Oil with Almond; it's luxurious and hydrating, while still leaving my skin with a clean feeling. I exfoliate using a bar soap, like Fresh Seaberry Exfoliating Soap. It makes my skin so smooth and soft! On tougher areas, like my elbows and knees, I use the Caudalie Crushed Cabernet Scrub. A little bit goes a long way with this scrub and it smells amazing.

My all-time favorite way to hydrate my skin is using the NARS Monoi Body Glow II oil. I apply it right out of the shower when my skin is still a little wet to lock in hydration right away. The scent is divine, and it leaves my skin soft, moisturized, and radiant. It's quite pricy, so when I'm feeling conservative, I use the Jergens Wet Skin Moisturizer. I wasn't a fan of wet-skin moisturizers until I tried this one. It absorbs really well, so I don't have to wait a long time before drying off. My typical daily body lotion is the C. Booth Vanilla Butter Body Lotion. I love the vanilla-almond scent, the easy-to-use pump, and the drugstore price, but it's truly a fantastic body lotion. I typically don't use a separate foot cream; instead, I use one of my body lotions. My boyfriend loves the Caudalie Foot Beauty Cream though, since his feet need a little more love.

One of the first places to spot aging is hands. I keep hand cream everywhere - my desk, my purse, my vanity, etc. My absolute favorite is the L'Occitane Shea Butter Hand Cream. It's a cult-classic for a reason: it's the best! It's super rich and soothing, but absorbs well enough that my hands are not out of commission for several minutes, like with many other creams. L'Occitane offers other scents, like their delicious almond one, but I find the original to be the most nourishing. Another favorite hand cream of mine is the Soap & Glory Hand Food. Of course, I love the feminine pink packaging, but the cream itself is lightweight and hydrating. It's great for general use, while the L'Occitane could be reserved for a more intensive treatment.
