Winter Lip Favorites

Don’t you just love cyclones and -35C weather? My lips definitely don’t. In the winter months, the cold weather wreaks havoc on my skin, and I absolutely detest the feeling of dry lips. For this reason, I try to put down the matte liquid lipsticks and reach for more hydrating and nourishing lip products. From masks to scrubs, my lip care drawer is chock-full of amazing discoveries that have saved my lips over the years. Here are some of my favorites!

As a self-proclaimed mask connoisseur, it’s only appropriate that I include a lip mask in my skincare routine. Bite Beauty’s Agave Lip Mask is my savior when the brutal winter weather destroys my lips. Whenever I use this mask overnight, the next morning my lips look so plump and feel so healthy. The consistency is very thick so a little goes a long way, which I love since a tube lasts me months. There are many different flavors available, but my favorites are Champagne and Natural. I really want to get my hands on the new Maple flavor as well.

Meghan Markle and I use the same lip balm. When I found out she loved this balm too I may or may not have fan-girled a little bit. The Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment is such a staple lip balm and I need to have one on me at all times, which yes may be a bit high maintenance but it’s totally worth it. This balm is so soothing and even has SPF in it (don’t forget your lips need to be protected from UV rays too.) There are tons of different shades available, but I love the nude range since it gives your lips a nice glow for natural makeup days. I’ll admit this balm is pretty expensive, and there definitely are other good options available at the drugstore, but I love indulging on this product.

I stumbled upon this lip oil when I received it as a deluxe sample on a Sephora order and I have been hooked on this product ever since. The Clarins Instant Light Lip Comfort Oil in “Honey” is one of my favourite balms for during the day since it’s not only hydrating, but it’s also such a pretty gloss. The consistency of this lip oil is very thin which I like because it doesn’t feel gloppy or heavy on my lips but packs a surprising punch in terms of hydration and moisture. Whenever I use this product my friends ask me what gloss I’m wearing, and I’m always so proud to tell them that it’s not only gorgeous but it’salso good for your lips!

Blessed be the human that invented lip scrub because I can’t imagine my skincare routine without it. I love using lip scrubs to slough away dry skin and keep my lips super smooth. In the winter months I find myself using lip scrubs a lot more often since the dry weather wreaks havoc on my skin, and this Agave Sugar Lip Scrub from Bite Beauty is by far my favorite. I love that the formula is really gritty but the granules aren’t abrasive or painful at all. One of the main ingredients is pineapple enzymes which helps to chemically exfoliate as well. The oily texture of this product is also very moisturizing which is perfect for soothing my lips post-scrub. I like to leave the serum on my lips overnight to really let all the goodness sink in.

In the winter months my lips take a beating because of my love for a good matte lip look, so on days when my lips are having none of it I usually reach for a gloss. For some weird reason I find that sometimes glosses dry out my lips as well, so when I find a pretty shade with a moisturizing formula I have to stop myself from buying the entire shade range. After months of admiring this Fenty Beauty gloss from afar, I finally bought it and I’m now hooked for life. The Fenty Beauty Gloss Bomb surprisingly does double duty as both a stunning lip colour and a hydrating treatment. I love how healthy and glowing my lips look whenever I use this gloss, and I find that the shade is so flattering. At this point I’m wondering, is there anything RiRi can’t do?
