7 Winter Makeup Essentials to Maintain Your Glow
It’s December and I am wearing more and more sweaters each day. Which means it’s getting colder and the summer glow you worked so hard for is becoming non-existent. I have spent a few years trying to keep that glow so that I don’t look cakey or dry and these are some of the products that have helped me! The key is to get base products that are hydrating and glowy!
For reference my skin type is normal year round and slightly dry in the winter.

After I’ve done my morning routine and before I start my makeup, my first step is using the Becca Backlight Priming Filter Face Primer. This gives your skin that glow from within and primes your foundation application. Even if it seems too much on initial application, it will be a little toned down when you apply your foundation. But I just love the way it preps your skin and prepares your canvas.
This Flower Beauty Light Illusion Liquid Foundation is my Holy Grail, especially for the winter time. It is very lightweight, yet the coverage can be built up nicely without being too cakey. It can be applied with a brush or beauty sponge, I personally prefer my eco tools beauty sponge. It is best to set your T-zone with your choice of powder. If you set the cheeks it takes away some of the glowiness. The great thing about this foundation is that even after you set it you can layer other liquids over it without it doing any damage.
The best part about this Flower Beauty Light Illusion Full Coverage Concealer is that it was made to go with the foundation, it is very light feeling but super full coverage. It goes on silky smooth and stays on all day long. But boy does it light up your under eyes! It makes it look so glowy! I put these on my under eyes before I set my foundation! And on any blemishes.
Let’s get cheeky
This Milk Makeup Lip+Cheek is a stick lip and blush duo. It is my favorite multi use product. I apply it to the sponge and then dab it onto my cheeks! This blush looks so glowy and like you’ve been in the sun, but not for too long! You know those blushes that are too pigmented and you can’t diffuse? Well you never have that issue with this one! And the blush shade range is so beautiful. It makes the finish on your cheeks so natural.
Highlight to mars
My choice of highlight is the NARS Bord De Plage Highlighting and Bronzing Palette, these are dry in the pan but are meant to be applied wet. So I use the side of my wet beauty sponge and dab it in. I apply it to the high points of my face and it is so beautiful and subtle. I don’t like over the top highlighters on my self, so for me this is the perfect balance. This palette also has 4 different tones of highlighters so you can use it for different moods or skin tones.
If you don’t use Milani’s Baked Bronzer..are you even living? This has such a beautiful shift and has the perfect balance of shimmer in it. The shimmer is very very subtle so don’t worry! But it warms up the skin so nicely! I love it. To get an overall warmth to the face apply it to the hairline, sides of the nose and a little down your neck.

Lastly, I love to add something to my eyes that takes minimal effort most days. So I love using the Laura Mercier Caviar Stick Eye Shadow($29) . They have great shades and go on so nicely. They look very glowy without feeling over the top.
With these products you won’t even look like it’s freezing outside! I attended college in Antartica, aka Idaho and it survives the negative numbers. I love having this glowy base to make me feel like I’ve been out in the sun and still look like a tan goddess instead of a ice queen.
