Emily's Winter Skin Picks

Skincare has been my new obsession. Don’t get me wrong I still love makeup but as a New Year’s resolution I have focused more on my skin and giving it the TLC it deserves. I experiment all the time with new products but only the best ones deserve a place on my Top Shelf.

Starting at the basics -- cleanser. If you love a good exfoliation but don’t want to tear your skin with beads and plastic, the Kate Somerville ExfoliKate Cleanser is your BFF. It includes the best types of AHAs (alpha hydroxy acids), glycolic and lactic acids. This is super creamy and helps clean the oils and impurities trapped under the skin. My skin feels instantly softer + glowy because of all those dead skin cells being sloughed off. To go along with the cleanser, add the Kate Somerville ExfoliKate Glow Moisturizer to your routine to obtain optimal glow without makeup. Make sure to wear SUNSCREEN whenever you apply AHAs and BHAs since your skin can become more sensitive to the sun.

Speaking of sunscreen -- I am a strong believer that SPF is the most important skincare one can apply to the skin. The sun’s radiation is the culprit of skin cancer, premature aging, dark spots (nothing I want!). Under makeup I use the Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Cream SPF 30. It’s more hydrating than any other facial sunscreen I’ve tried + it gives you the most natural glow!

I couldn’t write this post without at least one makeup product being featured. Trinny London’s products have been stealing the show in my no-makeup makeup routine lately. The stand-out product for me is the Golden Glow Cream Bronzer in Soala. You can blend it out with your fingers or a brush and it looks unbelievably natural. Like just got back from the Caribbean natural. Plus I use it as an eyeshadow for a simple 1-step eyeshadow look.
