Christie Morgan of PITCH ZINE
Meet Christie Morgan, Australian graphic designer and founder and editor-in-chief of PITCH ZINE, an online and print publication immersed in the world of design, fashion and art.
PITCH ZINE was founded in 2011 while Christie was studying to obtain her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Interactive and Visual Design from the Queensland University of Technology. Morgan was convinced that there had to be a better way of getting creative work out there for artists and designers who needed a little push. She developed the online publication solely through organic following and and eventually built a large fan base (now with 92.4k followers on Instagram and counting). It took 3 years to get PITCH ZINE to where it is today, having launched the first print edition of the magazine in 2015. After founding PITCH ZINE, Christie started to grow her own portfolio and take on clients of her own.
Christie recently launched a zine made in collaboration with her friend Chrissie Abbott called Reality vs. Virtual Reality (RVSVR). The pair hosted a launch party in Melbourne and are working on launching the zine in LA. Christie and Chrissie are also creating content for Standard Vision, where they'll have an animation on a large LED screen playing in Downtown LA.
Christie works with a mix of Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, and After Effects to create her art. Her advice to aspiring graphic designers and artists is to be your brand, work hard, and be true to your craft.
Christie is proud to have created PITCH ZINE with little resources. She's built a brand and an audience of young creatives who take inspiration from contemporary art. She is paving her path in the graphic design world, one interactive pastel animation at a time.
