Lauren Caruso of Stylecaster

Meet Lauren Caruso, Site Director of It's Lauren's job to run the content and editorial strategy side of StyleCaster, a lifestyle and fashion website.

Having graduated from Rutgers University with a Bachelor's Degree in Journalism and Media Studies, Lauren took on internships at various print and digital publications, including Hearst's Good Housekeeping. She worked as a contributor at StyleCaster, writing articles for the website's fashion, beauty, celebrity, and lifestyle sections. In 2011, she landed a job at Refinery29 as a Fashion and Beauty Market Editor. Lauren worked her way up the ladder on the editorial team, and helped to run Refinery29's contributor network, which she built from scratch with her best friend and former intern, Alyssa Coscarelli. In 2014, Caruso left Refinery29 and took a position at Allure Magazine as their Senior Digital Editor. Last Summer, two of Lauren's former Refinery29 bosses recruited her for a position at StyleCaster as Site Director.

Lauren has built a personal brand for herself on social media, with her Instagram account @laurencaruso_ having over 22,300 followers and counting. Lauren loves to use VSCO to edit photos and also uses Instagram's bookmarking tool to save ideas and inspiration for later. Though she says her personal brand happened on accident, she hopes to really fine tune her brand and hone in on what works for her and her audience.

As a millennials woman in the digital media world, Lauren is proud to have worked her way up to a position as a director-level editor at a young age. Even more so, she's proud of the relationships she's built and the friendships she's been able to make along the way. Lauren's advice to aspiring editors? "Be nimble. No two days are ever the same, and be willing to stretch beyond your job description."
