Sara Panton of Vitruvi
Meet Sara Panton, founder of Vitruvi, an essential oil company that designs and creates premium grade essential oil products for women. Sara founded Vitruvi 3 years ago with her brother, and now has a team of amazing staff that work for the company.
Vitruvi started as a passion project that she and her brother, Sean, worked on in the evenings and grew to become what it is today. Sara was completing her degree in Global health, while working with Nobel Peace Prize nominated charity We.org, travelling to places like Kenya and Morocco, setting up development projects that sparked her interest in learning about indigenous botanicals and the wellness rituals of other cultures. She was inspired by all of the different plants, people, and practices she was experiencing, and decided to create a collection of essential oil products for her own personal use. Sara began to research the effect of different essential oils and created her own custom for things like studying, falling asleep, early rising, easing sore muscles post-workout, and calming down before meditation.
Sara and Sean worked on the project late in the evenings out of their apartment after they had finished studying. They created content and products that they wanted to read and use because they couldn't find premium quality, well-designed essential oil products that made sense for their lives. They came up with Vitruvi, the first company in a 25 year-old industry to create products made by and for millennial women. Sara and her brother had unknowingly launched what would become the first omni-channel essential oil company. Vitruvi is now sold both online and in 300+ stores internationally with high profile retail partners like Goop, Nordstrom, Anthropologie, and Sephora.
A typical day for Sara as an entrepreneur, starts at around 6AM, when she wakes up and makes an espresso with coconut milk and turmeric. She answers emails in the morning, and does a quick 30-minute workout circuit, followed by a shower with Vitruvi's Eucalyptus essential oil. By 8AM, Sara and her dog, Charlie, are at the office, where she works to help collaborate and support different parts of the Vitruvi team, from photo shoots and creative direction, to overseeing finances with her brother, along with giving customers a personal experience, and answering some of their questions herself.
Looking forward, Sara is excited for the brand's impending launches, including new collection releases in September. Sara's advice to aspiring entrepreneurs? "Get really focused and ready to learn every day."
