Sarah Emily St-Gelais

Meet Sarah Emily St-Gelais, a Montreal based photographer. Sarah began taking photos over a decade ago at the age of 14. She started out taking photos outdoors of nature and things that caught her eye and later moved on to taking pictures of her friends and eventually taking on clients.

In the past 4 years, St-Gelais has been taking her photographer seriously, taking photos in between her busy schedule and working as a photo editor at a photo studio in Montreal.

She describes her style as very feminine. She likes to use soft natural light and shoot outside during Spring and Summer. She plays with putting flowers and crystals in front of the lens to create effects and diffuse light.

St-Gelais' advice to young photographers, is to practice and embrace networking. Share your work with local photographers and collaborate with aspiring models.

Sarah Emily looks up to and admires both local and international female photographers such as Lara Jade and Sandrine Castellan.

The Gilmore Girls loving photographer has been enjoying diving in to new books, her recent favorites being How to be a Woman by Caitlin Moran and On the Road by Jack Kerouac.
